Our Vision

To bring hope to the Triangle and the Nations as we proclaim and embody the good news of Jesus.

HOPE

The hope of the gospel is what we long to see impact our world.

THE TRIANGLE

East Durham is in the heart of the Triangle region – the community we are called to.

THE NATIONS

We long to see a multi-ethnic movement of hope in Jesus as we welcome the Nations in the Triangle and send the Triangle to the Nations.

PROCLAIM & EMBODY

We not only preach the good news of Jesus; we seek to apply it to all of life and society as we join Jesus in his work of making all things new.

GOOD NEWS OF JESUS

The gospel is at the center of who we are and all that we do.

Our Core Values

Our mission is to point a hurting world to hope in Jesus.
These 5 core values help guide the way we live out that mission.

How we engage

We celebrate the image of God in every person.

We seek to engage our community with eyes to see and hearts to welcome every person with dignity as created in God’s image. We celebrate the unique display of God’s image in the diversity of our community.

How we grow

We prioritize gospel community.

We grow by practicing gospel rhythms of dependence on God and one another. We prioritize following Jesus in community that is intentionally diverse and grounded in the gospel.

How we go

We empower mercy-filled lives.

Through Jesus, we have received mercy, and so we long to show that same mercy to the world around us. We see and respond to the brokenness of our world with lives of mercy, longing for our world to know and experience the mercy of Jesus.

How we share

We tell stories of real hope.

The greatest witness that we have to offer our community is our stories of experiencing hope in Jesus in the midst of a broken world. These stories of hope are a staple of our community.

What we expect

We expect God to change lives.

At the core of who we are as Eastpoint Church is the belief that God changes lives. It is this expectation that leads us to be a church that prays desperately and boldly. The focus of Eastpoint church is not what we as the church are able to do but rather what God wants to do in and through us.

How We Started

The Story of Eastpoint

Eastpoint Church was born out of a deep desire to see the hope of Jesus transform lives in East Durham and beyond. In 2023, God began stirring in Peter and Mary Frey a clear burden for this part of the city — a longing to see the gospel take root, communities restored, and people experience the light of Christ in places often overlooked or forgotten.

As Peter served in pastoral ministry and sought God’s direction for the next step, this vision grew into a calling: to plant a new gospel-centered church that would point a hurting world to hope in Jesus. With prayer, encouragement, and support from Waypoint Church and the Summit Collaborative, Eastpoint Church was launched to join God’s mission right here in East Durham.

The name Eastpoint  has three layers of meaning.

  • Purpose - to point a hurting world to the light that has dawned in the darkness
  • Place - the east side of Durham is the community we are called to
  • Partnership - to celebrate the kingdom partnerships that have helped make this vision possible.
  • Eastpoint exists because we believe that Jesus is still changing lives — and we long to see His hope shine in every home, neighborhood, and heart across East Durham.
